We made it...
...a whole week!
After denying the urge to flip on the tv to surf the channels or relax to a movie, we managed to make it through with somewhat flying colors. Josh did turn on the radio when we took some friends snowboarding yesterday. We put in a movie for the Kautz's kids when we watched them on Saturday. And I had to get online for bills and some other things, but I blame Josh, he told me to. Oh yea, and we took the Cheek's invitation to come over to the Kautz's while they watched Kris and Josiah, and there was a volleyball game on (but come on, the Huskers w0n the national championship).
But what did we learn from our media fast? Well, to find about Josh, you'll have to ask him or check his blog, in which he doesn't blog (but I promise, he will have blogs sometime soon). As for me. I found that I had so much extra time on my hands. It was kind of nice. Some of you know about my enlightenment while rearranging my kitchen. But it didn't stop there. I rearranged the whole house!!! You won't believe it until you see it. Our bedroom is now where Asher's room was and I turned our bedroom into Asher's room/guest room with twin, and Josh's office. The room is huge, so it's even a play room. I just found that I had a hard time sleeping with the computer and book cases in my bedroom, not to mention the clutter. This new plan is definitely simplified!!! Plus Josh can have his office, we can shut the door and it will help.
But not only house stuff. Josh and I found we had so much more time for each other. We started praying every night together. And instead of going to sleep to the tv, we would talk and play games, it was fun. Let's hope we can keep some of those things. I loved not watching television so much. From now on I am going to check the listing before just aimlessly turning on the television and surfing for hours. I will tape record shows I really want to watch and watch them possibly later when Asher goes to sleep.
The radio? Well, I guess I don't miss all the stupid radio commercials. But I have totally needed to hear the Christmas Carols to help get me motivated and reminding me that Christmas is coming and I need to get some gifts organized. So I think I will turn some on today.
Well, I recommend a media fast to all who read this, kind of ironic to say though, hence the fact that I'm on-line and you are too if your reading.
My next fast.....soda, till after the holidays!! I'm already craving it!
